We’re not just building a sanctuary.
We’re building a revolution in how we care—for land, for animals, and for each other.
Penelope’s Pondstead and Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit rooted in one powerful idea:
Healing isn’t a service. It’s a moral obligation.
Our mission is to create a living, breathing example of what’s possible when science, stewardship, and meaning come together:
Where animals are not commodities—but companions and teachers.
Where families grow real food, learn real skills, and reconnect with what matters.
This isn’t theoretical. We’re already doing much of it—on rented land, with student stipends, salvaged materials, and a whole lot of grit.
We’ve built gardens from scratch. Rehabilitated injured animals by hand. And created a daily rhythm of care and connection that’s already transforming lives—ours, and others'.
To help scale that impact, we will not only welcome blood-sweat-tears advisors we will also be deploying AI as an official advisor. Not as a replacement for humanity, but as a tool—one that helps us streamline grant writing, optimize planning, develop curriculum, and accelerate our mission in ways that would otherwise take years.
At Penelope’s Pondstead and Sanctuary, we believe healing isn’t one-size-fits-all.
For some, it comes through therapy.
For us, it came through animals, soil, and silence.
We built this mission because we know what it feels like to carry pain with nowhere to put it.
And we’ve learned that sometimes, the first real exhale comes while feeding a duck, planting a seed, or simply sitting beside something alive that doesn’t ask you to explain yourself.
We rescue farm animals and give them more than survival—we give them safety, care, and the right to just be.
We tend the land through regenerative farming, because when soil is broken, you rebuild it gently and with time.
And we hold space for people—especially those carrying trauma—to reconnect with life in its simplest, most honest form.
This isn’t just a sanctuary. It’s a homestead. A life. A living example.
We want our children—and our community—to know this way of living isn’t just possible. It’s better.
